December 24th, 2016 2016 Summary

2016 has brought ENL much success. We competed for, and won, many Aerospace, Automotive and Marine projects. Our high-quality products manufactured and delivered on time speak for themselves and the company managed to increase its list of partners and customers.

ENL looks after its customers’ needs first. After an increase in our customer base we took a step forward and increased our moulding capability by installing a new 1100 Tonne Engel Duo injection moulding press. This provides us with a significant new capability and our customers have been quick to take advantage of it.

As we continued through the year we happened to have another pleasant surprise. An ENL apprentice was nominated for an award by the Plastics Industry Awards 2016. Only a few people across the UK & Ireland were chosen in each category and invited to this glamorous ceremony in London. We congratulated Adam Harden for his nomination and for being an outstanding Apprentice Toolmaker

As we are getting closer to the end of 2016, ENL has invested in another upgrade in machining capacity. Our new XYZ 710 VMC is already in place, installed and ready for work with its amazing 4000 kg solid casting 8000 RPM spindle and perfect positional accuracy (+/- 5 microns). Coupled with our machining capabilities there is “No job too big or too small for us”. It is a modern, well -designed and efficient machine. Programmed by some of the most skilled people in the whole company it makes a perfect way to achieve the best results in a short lead-time.

January 27th, 2016 Customer Survey Results for 2015

A huge thank you to all of our customers who replied to the Christmas Customer Satisfaction Survey.

February 14th, 2014 ENL Invest in New Moulding Equipment

In January, ENL took delivery of 3 new Arburg Injection moulding machines. The delivery from Arburg consisted of one 60 tonne Allrounder and two 150 Tonne Golden Edition moulding machines.


The 370S, 60 tonne Allrounder was bought to support existing and new insert and overmoulding business that requires the ability of the machine to function with the clamp unit in both the horizontal and vertical positions. The horizontal position allows for conventional moulding and the vertical position of both the clamp and the injection unit allows for more technical insert moulding and over moulding. ENL already has many years of experience in this process and the new Allrounder machine compliments existing Arburg Alltounder machines which are now at full capacity. The new Allrounder also has the ability for split line injection, core pulling sequences and high temperature barrels and heater bands to allow for high temperature materials such as PEEK and PPS to be moulded. These materials require much higher specifications from the machine to allow them to be moulded. Within the ENL group, four Arburg Allrounder moulding machines are now used to supply into automotive and aerospace industry sectors.


The final two new machines are both 470C, 150 tonne Golden Edition moulding machines. Both of the new machines are again equipped with high temperature, high wear resistant injection units. These injection units were requested to support new business to be moulded in glass filled PEEK. The machines are also equipped with the ability for multiple hydraulic core pull, pneumatic core pull and robot interface. The robot interface was requested for future, planned investment in automated removal of parts by robot. Each machine has been equipped with two different screw and barrel sizes to allow for optimum processing of materials in different size components.

All three machines have the latest version of Arburg control software which is controlled through a touch screen.

Additional dehumidifying drying equipment has also been purchased to support the new machines. This ensures that the material is delivered to the machine in the optimum condition ready for moulding.

May 21st, 2012 London-Paris cycle for DEBRA

Richard Gamble, Managing Director at ENL, is cycling from London to Paris to help raise funds and awareness for a little known charity called DEBRA.

This is a national charity that works on behalf of people in the UK with the genetic skin blistering condition Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB).

EB is a very rare genetic condition in which the skin and internal body linings blister at the slightest knock or rub, causing painful, open wounds.

People who suffer from this condition can find support and information on this condition at DEBRA –

The charity does wonderful work funding 10 specialist EB nurses and 3 Social Care Managers who help children, adults and families affected by this cruel condition.

Over the next three years DEBRA wishes to commit significant funds to further their aim of finding lasting and effective treatments for all types of the condition.

For this reason Richard has decided to take on a seriously tough challenge to help raise awareness and funds for this deserving cause.

The London-Paris cycle is on a par with events like the London and New York Marathons and was named by The Daily Telegraph as one of the world’s top 25 participation events. To ride The London-Paris you need to be in peak physical condition and prepared to be challenged, mentally and physically.

From 21-24 June 2012 participants will be cycling over 100miles a day.

April 1st, 2012 Plastic Moulding Success at The Big Bang Fair

ENL Limited were proud to be part of the Enstruct range of educational products at the Big Bang Fair 2012. As reported by the BBC, “Three massive halls in Birmingham’s National Exhibition Centre were roaring with excited children, exploding exhibits and scientists and engineers buzzing with answers.” The three-day Fair attracted 56,000 visitors almost doubling last year’s impressive numbers.

Through a collaboration with Winchester College Head of Design Technology, Simon Tarrant, and educational supplier, Rapid, ENL Limited have brought to market a construction set that enables people of all ages to have fun whilst learn about structures and forces – how to make things stand up!

On display at the Big Bang Fair, was a full-size racing car chassis built from Enstruct parts and a selection of tubes and connectors for visitors to the show to try out on the stand. From robots to aeroplanes, the future engineers and scientists visiting the stand demonstrated that, with a bit of imagination and teamwork, it is possible to build exciting life-size structures with Enstruct.

Saturday, the final day of the show, was probably the busiest, with around 300 people visiting the Enstruct stand. Interest came from primary school teachers through to University lecturers, as well as parents’ and their very excited children.  The show was a success as orders for Enstruct starter kits have been placed with Rapid (the exclusive distributor) since exhibiting.

Other PR events are planned to raise awareness of this new product, designed to transform the learning of science and engineering in schools and to be used for team building activities at universities, engineering firms and architectural practices.

March 26th, 2012 Specialised Equipment at ENL

ENL, manufacturer of injection mould tools and injection mouldings have a A & D MS 70 Moisture Analyser to provide empirical evidence that the high specifications required by it’s clients’ is adhered to.

ENL is continuously investing in new equipment to maintain the highest standards of production required for applications in the civil aviation, automotive and defence industries. The acquisition of a new Moisture Analyser means ENL can provide further empirical evidence that the high quality required for these industries is maintained in the manufacture of components made of hygroscopic polymers.

Clients know they can rely on the injection moulding division to produce high-specification, high-performance materials. They are assured that the final product will show no signs of  problems in the field due to deterioration of mechanical properties as they are provided with tangible evidence that the required amount of moisture is removed from all polymers.

ENL is confident and proficient  in adhering to stringent standards set out by their customers and customarily produces documentation that shows the traceability and treatment of materials, including preparation of the polymer. Additionally, processing of materials in the injection moulding machine is controlled, recorded and understood at every stage.

The Moisture Analyser is quick and easy to use and can test different materials at different temperatures for varying periods of time with all results recorded on a database on a standard PC. As such there is demonstrable evidence that materials are always in the correct condition for moulding.

ENL have trialed and tested the moisture analyser on a full range of products and materials before and after drying to an accuracy of 0.001%. This in house in vivo testing showed that all materials are dried below manufacturers recommended levels.

An added advantage to using a moisture analyser is improving ENL’s Green credentials as time, money and energy can be saved by not over drying materials.

The A & D MS 70 moisture analyser is just one tool ENL use to satisfy the PPAP requirements in the automotive industry and conformance to AS 9100 in the aerospace industry.

ENL have been active within the aerospace market for some 50 years.  With continued investment into state-of-the-art machines and supported by the all-important AS9100 quality standard, we continue to grow within this important global business segment.

For example, ENL are proud to be supporting the Airbus A350XWB program.  This new Airbus program brings together the very latest in aerodynamics, design and advanced technologies in the A350 XWB to provide a 25 per cent step-change in fuel efficiency compared to its current long-range competitor. Contributing to this performance are the Rolls-Royce Trent XWB engines that power the A350 XWB family.

Over 70 per cent of the A350 XWB’s weight-efficient airframe is made from advanced materials, combining 53 per cent of composite structures with titanium and advanced aluminum alloys. The aircraft’s innovative all-new Carbon Fibre Reinforced Plastic (CFRP) fuselage results in lower fuel consumption, as well as easier maintenance.

ENL are a key supplier for the fuel-pipe application which uses a moulded Polyetheretherketone (PEEK), a semicrystalline thermoplastic which operates at extremely high temperatures (260 degrees celsius). PEEK has one the lightest strength to weight ratios and exhibits outstanding resistance to aggressive chemicals.

March 12th, 2012 ENL: The Injection Moulding Company of Choice

ENL continues to be the plastic injection moulding company of choice for the automotive and aerospace industries in 2012.

As ENL continues to widen it’s business horizons with new clients and equipment, it’s sustainable, organic growth is reflected in the 36.2% increase in turnover in 2011. The thriving company order books continue to expand with this months orders up 16.5% on last month.

With growth comes the responsibility to consistently deliver on-time quality and ENL lives up to its customers expectations. In December 100% of scheduled repeat orders were made and delivered on-time with 98.28% rate for remaining clients.

With ENL going from strength to strength and materials utilisation at 96.4%, systems are being put in place to increase this figure to 97.5% over the coming months. Another area ENL is succeeding in is the cost of scrap. It remains at less than half the bench mark at 0.72% enabling ENL to provide the competitive prices clients are looking for while not compromising on traceability or quality.

ENL is accustomed to working with OEM’s and as such is used to being audited.  This month ENL passed an audit made by a new automotive customer with flying colours surpassing the pass rate by over 30%. The management team is continually on the look out for areas where improvements can be made and strategies are in play to make the next audit even closer to 100%.

With production in Slovakia and the UK, ENL is continually winning contracts for plastic injection moulding in the automotive and aerospace industries because they can produce the standards these demanding industries require.
