Friday, February 14th, 2014 ENL Invest in New Moulding Equipment

In January, ENL took delivery of 3 new Arburg Injection moulding machines. The delivery from Arburg consisted of one 60 tonne Allrounder and two 150 Tonne Golden Edition moulding machines.


The 370S, 60 tonne Allrounder was bought to support existing and new insert and overmoulding business that requires the ability of the machine to function with the clamp unit in both the horizontal and vertical positions. The horizontal position allows for conventional moulding and the vertical position of both the clamp and the injection unit allows for more technical insert moulding and over moulding. ENL already has many years of experience in this process and the new Allrounder machine compliments existing Arburg Alltounder machines which are now at full capacity. The new Allrounder also has the ability for split line injection, core pulling sequences and high temperature barrels and heater bands to allow for high temperature materials such as PEEK and PPS to be moulded. These materials require much higher specifications from the machine to allow them to be moulded. Within the ENL group, four Arburg Allrounder moulding machines are now used to supply into automotive and aerospace industry sectors.


The final two new machines are both 470C, 150 tonne Golden Edition moulding machines. Both of the new machines are again equipped with high temperature, high wear resistant injection units. These injection units were requested to support new business to be moulded in glass filled PEEK. The machines are also equipped with the ability for multiple hydraulic core pull, pneumatic core pull and robot interface. The robot interface was requested for future, planned investment in automated removal of parts by robot. Each machine has been equipped with two different screw and barrel sizes to allow for optimum processing of materials in different size components.

All three machines have the latest version of Arburg control software which is controlled through a touch screen.

Additional dehumidifying drying equipment has also been purchased to support the new machines. This ensures that the material is delivered to the machine in the optimum condition ready for moulding.

Monday, May 21st, 2012 London-Paris cycle for DEBRA

Richard Gamble, Managing Director at ENL, is cycling from London to Paris to help raise funds and awareness for a little known charity called DEBRA.

This is a national charity that works on behalf of people in the UK with the genetic skin blistering condition Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB).

EB is a very rare genetic condition in which the skin and internal body linings blister at the slightest knock or rub, causing painful, open wounds.

People who suffer from this condition can find support and information on this condition at DEBRA –

The charity does wonderful work funding 10 specialist EB nurses and 3 Social Care Managers who help children, adults and families affected by this cruel condition.

Over the next three years DEBRA wishes to commit significant funds to further their aim of finding lasting and effective treatments for all types of the condition.

For this reason Richard has decided to take on a seriously tough challenge to help raise awareness and funds for this deserving cause.

The London-Paris cycle is on a par with events like the London and New York Marathons and was named by The Daily Telegraph as one of the world’s top 25 participation events. To ride The London-Paris you need to be in peak physical condition and prepared to be challenged, mentally and physically.

From 21-24 June 2012 participants will be cycling over 100miles a day.

Monday, March 26th, 2012 Specialised Equipment at ENL

ENL, manufacturer of injection mould tools and injection mouldings have a A & D MS 70 Moisture Analyser to provide empirical evidence that the high specifications required by it’s clients’ is adhered to.

ENL is continuously investing in new equipment to maintain the highest standards of production required for applications in the civil aviation, automotive and defence industries. The acquisition of a new Moisture Analyser means ENL can provide further empirical evidence that the high quality required for these industries is maintained in the manufacture of components made of hygroscopic polymers.

Clients know they can rely on the injection moulding division to produce high-specification, high-performance materials. They are assured that the final product will show no signs of  problems in the field due to deterioration of mechanical properties as they are provided with tangible evidence that the required amount of moisture is removed from all polymers.

ENL is confident and proficient  in adhering to stringent standards set out by their customers and customarily produces documentation that shows the traceability and treatment of materials, including preparation of the polymer. Additionally, processing of materials in the injection moulding machine is controlled, recorded and understood at every stage.

The Moisture Analyser is quick and easy to use and can test different materials at different temperatures for varying periods of time with all results recorded on a database on a standard PC. As such there is demonstrable evidence that materials are always in the correct condition for moulding.

ENL have trialed and tested the moisture analyser on a full range of products and materials before and after drying to an accuracy of 0.001%. This in house in vivo testing showed that all materials are dried below manufacturers recommended levels.

An added advantage to using a moisture analyser is improving ENL’s Green credentials as time, money and energy can be saved by not over drying materials.

The A & D MS 70 moisture analyser is just one tool ENL use to satisfy the PPAP requirements in the automotive industry and conformance to AS 9100 in the aerospace industry.

Although the show was much smaller to that of Hamburg the contacts gained and brand recognition will be invaluable as we were the only UK Injection Moulding Company exhibiting. Our AS9100 accreditation coupled with our knowledge and experience in all ‘benchmark’ Aerospace materials allows us to offer a competative pricing structure on a global platform.
